Still haven’t decided on a colour scheme, many of the photo’s I’ve looked up on my phone of other DJ magazines has the colour scheme as somewhat random seeming to only relate to the colours of the front cover image. I think a regal blue and white but have yet to decide the 3rd colour.

Following conventions I think the double page spread would be best off being a smaller article with some Q & A’s opposite. Will probably use the dark room, macbook thing for the double page spread, with white writing, its gives the whole article a colour scheme then, don’t really want to use red, white and black as it’s a bit common, thinking of the colour scheme.

Did some of the set work today, had a think about the contents page layout, was given and idea of having maybe records with the articles on? And then having the featured artist walking up them like stairs. Seems a bit impractical but will try and develop it too work as I go on.

Continuing on from yesterday, I got COD: Black Ops for Christmas and like the front cover of certain aspects of a model being illuminated whilst the rest is in darkness. I think I’ll use this sort of style except whereas on the game the characters face is left in darkness I think ill have the face illuminated via the laptop (hopefully a macbook) and the surrounding area in darkness, it will make a fairly bold picture because the illuminated apple logo will stand out as well as the face. Thinking of how to create the conditions necessary…

Drew a bit of plan of the front of my magazine today and have to scan it in at some point, I’m going to use the turntable idea and will create the logo at some point either using Photoshop at school or actually cutting out the letters and placing them on the turntable. Took inspiration from a picture of the bloody beetroots that I will embed upon my return to school.

Having had the idea of using a turntable yesterday I’ve decided that now would be a good idea to come up with a name, I’ve decided to use the “Beat match” as the title due to its connotations in the DJ world of lining up two songs with similar BPM’s as well as the fact that in itself it’s a fairly catchy phrase.

First day of school holidays and I’ve had a pretty good idea for my magazine logo. Taking inspiration from the video miss showed us of the “livewire” mag I’ve decided to use my dad’s turntable to make my logo. I’m using it because its iconic to DJ’s and stands the test of time as people still use them today even without records using programs such as tracktor to simulate the “scratching” effect.
